Discovering Syria
For the Sixth year in a row, the Syrian
Automobile Club is organizing the popular Discover Syria
Rally, From Damascus the oldest inhabitant capital in
the world to Lattakia the Syrian jewel of the
Mediterranean then to Aleppo the capital of the north ,
before continuing to Alnasra on top of a beautiful
mountain east of Homs; you shall enjoy Syria the cradle
of civilizations and store of human history.
The unparalleled success of Discover Syria Rally in the
past and the
High public and official acclaim for the presentation of
Syria's tourist treasures in a sportive competition that
any person can participate in, The Syrian Automobile
Club (FIA, CIK member), under the patronage of the
Ministry of Tourism, is organizing the Discover Syria
Rally 2008 with a very rich and enjoyable program.
This event will include a great variety of the most
important and historical, religious, and touristic
sites, in addition to the green mountains and beautiful
seashores.
This competition event in addition to the enjoyable
driving and the entertainment program is a unique chance
for individuals and families from all nationalities to
better know Syria (the biggest small country in the
world)
Participants
Any group of no less than tow persons
(driver and co-driver) with a valid driving license are
eligible to participate in their private car.
The participation in the rally does not require any
special skills .It is based on adhering to the driving
and safety rules, speed limits, knowledge of following
the road book.
It is not based on high-speed skills.
Points System, and winning
the Rally
a- Starting point of
every day :
Any Team arrives late to the park ferme'
every day will be penalized by adding one point for
every minute to their score. Any car arrives late for
more than 15 minutes is penalized by five points for
every late minute added to their points. The late for
more than 25 minutes exposes the team to exclusion
without returning the fees .
b- Ordinary and special Stages
:
1- Ordinary Stages : Every day of the Rally
consists of many ordinary stages. Every stage is given a
sufficient limited time mentioned on the time sheet
given to each competitor .
and every arrival :
- after this time is penalized by adding one point to
their score for each minute of delay .
- before this time is penalized by adding two points to
their score for each minute .
2- special stages : Every day of the Rally has
one or more special stages . every stage is given a
sufficient limited time mentioned on the time sheet
given to each competitor .
and every arrival :
- after this time is penalized by adding one point to
their score for each minute of delay .
- before this time is penalized by adding two points to
their score for each minute .
c- Check Points:
Non-passing through any of the checkpoints
located in the road book is penalized by adding (50)
points to the team score.
d- Hidden Check points:
To control the speed limit of the competitors
there will be some hidden check points on the road,
these points will check for all safety methods like seat
belts ext. And also these points will measure the time
and distance of the competitors that should be in this
point with flexibility of five minutes (plus or minus),
any arrival before this time will be penalized by adding
(20) points to their score for each minute.
e- Puzzle Pictures:
The Participants will be handed at the start
point of every day of the rally a folder that has
several pictures placed randomly, these pictures are for
objects located on the way of the rally, each
participant should locate these pictures on the road
book and right that on the sheet attached with the time
sheet.
Every missing picture will be penalized by adding (7)
points to the team score.
f- Questions of general
information:
The participants will be handed at some check
points every day of the rally some questions concerning
general information or touristic information, and the
team will have the time to answer the question and hand
it to the next check point in the rally.
Every wrong answer will be penalized by adding (7)
points to the team score.
g – Different Events :
Every day of the rally will have some events
(games) during the day , that will count in the general
results of the rally , the rules and points of the game
will be given at the beginning of each day .
h- Violations of the safety
instructions:
Since this Rally is a social rally, it also
cares for the personal and public safety, by looking
after several aspects:
1- Safety belt
2-Using the mobile phone while driving without the
earphone.
3- Violation of the speed limits.
Any participant checked by any of the organizers at any
time during the days of the rally holding any of these
violations will be penalized by adding 100 points to
their score, without the right of objection.
The winners:
The winner team is the one team who has
the least points during the Rally. |
